Based on feedback from the counties and ARD, the revised Safety and Risk tools have been modified. The newly modified tools are currently being tested in the 3 pilot counties (Garfield, Eagle, and Pueblo).
CWTS is committed to valuing your time by ensuring that training is designed to help learners gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in a way that is comprehensive, current, and clear. This goal is especially important when it comes to our partnering with Colorado’s child welfare workforce to ensure the effective assessment of safety and risk with families.
To that end, we are suspending ALL currently scheduled Safety and Risk courses. All learners who are currently registered for an offering of the Colorado Family Safety and Risk Assessments Training for Supervisors and Caseworkers course will soon receive an individual message informing them that the offering has been cancelled.
When the newly modified tools have been validated, we will revise the course to include training learners to use the finalized tools and we will resume offering the Colorado Family Safety and Risk Assessments Training for Supervisors and Caseworkers. At that time, we will send another message notifying you that the new course offerings are available for registration.
Please note - anyone who has already completed the Colorado Family Safety and Risk Assessments Training for Supervisors and Caseworkers course will NOT be required to re-take the revised course. Instead, CWTS will offer webinars to explain the newly modified tools and answer any questions you may have in an effort to support you with implementation. Additionally, the CDHS Division of Child Welfare (DCW), Child Protection Services and Training units will make themselves available to support your success by visiting counties and providing coaching and technical assistance.
All counties must be using the Colorado Family Safety Assessment tool as of January 1, 2017. CWTS will work in collaboration with DCW to ensure that all counties are trained prior to implementation.
